Urduja

Set in the 13th century, Urduja was the princess of the Tawilisi tribe who lived in the plains of Central Luzon.

Due to the ongoing strife with the Batyaws, a tribe in the highlands, Lakanpati, the king and her father, trained her to be a warrior.

She was raised like a man, being the only child of the king.

With the king’s eventual passing of rule to Urduja, he worried about her future and decides to marry her off to the captain of the Tawilisi warriors, Simakwel, in order for the tribe to have a king. This did not sit well with Urduja as she had never had a liking to Simakwel.

For the whole story, watch Urduja in Philippine movie theaters starting June 18.
